Full Season Travel Hockey
Our Association is a member of the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League and play games throughout the greater Cleveland area. Our teams also participate in scrimmages with other in-state and out of state teams and tournaments. Our teams average 50-60 competitive games a season.
The Sharks focus heavily on family and fun. Our players and families are all part of the Shark family. We teach our players to exhibit good sportsmanship on and off the ice through the example our coaches and families set.
Ages
Our Full Season Travel Hockey Program is for players who turn 8 during this calendar year up to players who turn 14 this calendar year. Players looking to "play up" this calendar year are only allowed to try out for the next higher level of hockey with the permission of the Hockey Director.
For more information about our 8U Mite Hockey Program, please see our 8U Mite Hockey Program Page.
When
Tryout evaluations are typically held in the spring.
Where
Practices and home games are held at the John M. Coyne Recreation Center in Brooklyn, unless otherwise noted. We also practice at the Dan Kostel Ice Rink in Garfield, as well.
Practices
Dryland practices can begin as soon as the end of June, beginning of July. On-Ice Practices begin at the end of July and typically run until the middle of February.
Each player gets 2-4 ice times each week that are used for practices and home games. We do not run a set schedule, so you can practice any day of the week. Practices are no earlier than 5:30 PM on the weekdays.
The Sharks also partner with Coach Russ Sinkewich and the Ohio Hockey Project for additional development and skill sessions for our skaters and our goalies.
Our goalies play for free and also have access to monthly personalized goalie training separate from our skaters with Brothers’ Goaltending Academy.
These additional sessions help to elevate our skaters and goalies while sharpening their skills.
Games
Teams in this program play full-ice games. Depending upon the size of the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League division your team is placed in, the team will play approximately 20-27 league games (8-12 pre-season & 12-15 regular season).
Games typically start in the middle of September and the league season ends with the playoffs in late February.
During the season, our teams also participate in scrimmages and tournaments, as well. Our teams average 50-60 competitive games a season between League games, scrimmages, and tournament games.
Jerseys
Players in this program must purchase the club home and away jerseys and socks. These costs are not included in the Club Season fees.
Additional Costs
Your Team Manager will be required to maintain a team bank account to cover expenses such as referee fees for scrimmages, tournaments and coaching certifications and/or stipend. At the start of the season (shortly after tryouts) each family will be asked for a deposit to get that account started. The amount varies by team and some teams choose to fundraise, as well.
